I’ve always found joy in reading. By second grade, I was reading a chapter book a night with my flashlight while everyone else in the house was asleep.

For years, I’ve diligently tracked my reading, identifying successful and unsuccessful strategies and recurring grammatical mistakes. My writing improved thanks to those notes, inspiring me to help others.

Over the last two years, I’ve enjoyed building these skills with courses from my Sisters in Crime (SinC), Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), and ACES: The Society for Editing memberships.

I’ve been recently overwhelmed by the prevalence of stereotypical and inaccurate portrayals of diverse populations. To aid writers in crafting more inclusive narratives, I utilize my lived experiences with frequently stereotyped conditions like neurodivergence, chronic illness, and infertility.

Developmental Editing Fiction
Developmental editing focuses on the big-picture items. I look for things like:

Manuscript Evaluation
Fiction
A manuscript evaluation is similar to a developmental edit but with less detail. This is a quicker overview of how your story is developing.

Often, a partial manuscript evaluation can help get a story back on track without the cost of a full developmental edit.

Sensitivity/Accuracy Reading of Fiction
Do you have a great story you need someone to read for authenticity?

All editing projects for novel-length fiction include free sample edit of up to ten pages to ensure we have a strong partnership.

Editing contracts include a 30-minute Zoom consultation before the project begins and a 60-minute Zoom call after completion to answer questions. Cameras are always optional, and captioning is available for all Zoom calls.
